AITC & BWA help travelers return home healthy

Catching a seasonal virus or returning with an infection is never part of planning those long awaited vacations. Luckily, the SF Health Department’s Immunization & Travel Clinic, commonly known as the AITC, has launched its first campaign to educate the public about its travel health services designed to prevent serious health risks while abroad.

The BWA designed campaign features toilets commonly found abroad with the headline: “Don’t Spend Your Vacation Hugging This.” The ads will run on San Francisco print & transit outlets as well as online through the end of December.

Traveling unprepared cannot only ruin a vacation but it can be potentially harmful to family and friends upon return. In an alarming example, the California Department of Public Health reported that a UC Berkeley student infected dozens of his peers with mumps after contracting the illness in England.

The AITC has provided customized information and immunizations based on travel itinerary and health status since 1997. It also specializes in all types of adult immunizations including TB testing and flu shots. On-location immunization services are available for local businesses and organizations.
