Better World Advertising’s Independence Campaign Wins Telly Award
Better World Advertising is pleased to announce that the Independence campaign was named a Bronze winner in the 35th Annual Telly Awards. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor. BWA was recognized in the Cause Marketing – Local TV and Local Cable category.
The Independence campaign was developed in partnership with the Sonoma County Department of Health Services in an effort to prevent tobacco initiation by Sonoma County teens. The centerpiece of the campaign is a thirty-second commercial featuring teens explaining how tobacco companies get users hooked on nicotine and gain control over one’s health. They tell the audience that by rejecting tobacco, teens can assert their independence, as underscored by the statement: “It’s not for me, I go my own way.” The commercial aired on Comcast Cable networks in Sonoma County and appears on YouTube and in movie theaters.
“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “Better World Advertising’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films.
Better World Advertising is proud of this recognition and of our years-long commitment to developing campaigns promoting the prevention or cessation of tobacco use. This is the second award for Independence; the campaign was also honored with a 2014 Gold Communicator Award.
