BWA Has a New Art Director

Carlos Hermosillo got an early start in community organizing and activism as a contributing member of the Hillcrest Youth Center Leadership Council where he helped plan and execute alternative events for queer, transitional & homeless youth in San Diego. Years later, he joined the Trayectos Research Study (based in San Diego) at the UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies as a research assistant to aid a principal investigator and team of ethnographers in documenting the lived experiences of self-identified gay and bisexual Mexican immigrants and their sexual HIV risk. Carlos moved to San Francisco in 2006 to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of California – San Francisco. Upon graduating, Carlos won best portfolio in his class. He was nationally recognized for his photography and makeup artistry skills in an HIV awareness photo book that was published by Bristol-Myers Squibb. He went on to design in the privatized technology sector where he boasted notable clients including Facebook, Ebay, the US Government, Barclays, and LAX. Carlos is excited to contribute his skills and expertise to work with a greater social resonance and purpose in his new role as Art Director here at BWA.
