BWA Helps the Club Health Conference Make it’s North American Debut
Last week, the 8th International Club Health Conference on Nightlife, Substance Use and Related Health Issues took place for the first time in the United States right here in San Francisco. The very first conference was held in Liverpool, UK in 1997 at the world famous Cream nightclub. Following the great success of the event, a decision was made to make it international, and the next Club Health conference was held in Amsterdam in 1999. After events throughout Europe and even Australia, Club Health aimed to extend its global reach by making its North American debut. San Francisco was chosen as the ideal site not only for its acclaimed and varied nightlife, but also because of its leadership in implementing progressive, health-oriented nightlife policies.
BWA partnered with Liverpool John Moores University, DanceSafe, and the Drug Policy Alliance in the development and marketing of the Conference. BWA designed the logo, website, program, abstract book, and tote bag. The Conference was well attended with participants from all over the world coming together to discuss the latest science and practice in public health as it relates to nightlife culture. BWA was proud to represent San Francisco and support a conference that deeply advocates for the principles of harm reduction.
