BWA Launches the “HIV Stops With Me” Campaign in Maryland!
This month, Better World Advertising and the University of Maryland launched the “HIV Stops With Me” campaign in Baltimore. With the support of the University’s Star Track program, BWA identified and interviewed a wide array of African American MSM from the Baltimore area to select four spokesmodels who would represent the unique “flavor” of the city. Ultimately Mayo, Terrence, Saphire, and Ben were selected. They stood out from the crowd because of their unique perspectives which exemplified the spectrum of young black gay men in the city, as well as their confidence and conviction to personally confront the HIV epidemic in their community.
This is a very personal campaign and is designed to build community support and a sense of individual responsibility among HIV positive people. The first way for people to connect with our spokesmodels will be through the campaign website www.HIVStopsWithMe.org followed by promotional outreach throughout the community. The media campaign, which features each spokesmodel under the slogan “We’re Still Here,” will be prominently promoted throughout the city via trains, buses, light rail and bus shelters as well as internet banner ads on MSM specific websites, print ads, lenticular palm cards, and posters.
