Cigarettes Are My Greatest Enemy Campaign Fights LGBT Smoking
BWA's campaign "Cigarettes Are My Greatest Enemy", originally created for the Billy DeFrank LGBT Center in San Jose, CA, continues to motivate individuals in the LGBT community to quit smoking. The Coalition of Lavender Americans on Smoking and Health (CLASH) has partnered with BWA to adapt the campaign and is running print ads across California, specifically targeting the Bay Area, Fresno, San Diego and Los Angeles.
The LGBT community suffers from smoking rates of nearly double the general population and tobacco related illnesses are one of the leading preventable causes of deaths among LGBT individuals. CLASH is an established organization that has been working to unravel ties between the tobacco industry and the LGBT community, as well as provide local cessation programs. The new initiative will use this hard-hitting campaign to re-energize people around the idea that quitting is possible.
