Films for Thought
Last week, HIV STOPS WITH ME spokesmodels were on hand at Tribeca Cinemas for the 2013 Power Of My Parts Film Festival featuring films written, directed and produced by young people hoping to create dialogue about issues they face daily and provide healthy alternatives that lead to more informed decisions. HIV STOPS WITH ME spokesmodels Kim, Jackie & Vivian circled the floor, interacting with festival guests, distributing palm cards and directing traffic to the BWA table where guests could sign up to receive the campaign newsletter or pick up a poster. Attendees were primarily friends and family of Young Women of Color HIV/AIDS Coalition (YWCHAC) members, including Monica Sweeney MD, Assistant Commissioner from the Bureau of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, as well as filmmakers, advocates, children and supporters. Complimentary HIV/AIDS testing was available to anyone at the event. Film screenings were followed by Q&A sessions and wrapped up with a party where guests mingled, reflected, and enjoyed the rest of the evening.
