HIV STOPS WITH ME 2015 Launches in New York State
On February 26th, BWA and the New York State Department of Health launched the 2015 HIV STOPS WITH ME campaign. The campaign's theme, Treatment Changes Everything, focuses on the benefits of getting into HIV care and staying on treatment. The campaign features 29 HIV positive spokesmodels from cities across New York, including New York City, Long Island, Hudson Valley, Buffalo, Albany, Rochester and Syracuse. “This new campaign is about empowering HIV positive people to make a statement about metamorphosis. It’s not just about being able to live, but about living fabulously exceptionally,” said Sheldon DeSouza, BWA Project Manager.
To commemorate the launch, HIV STOPS WITH ME and DBQ Magazine hosted a red carpet event, "LOUD: The State of Gay Sex, Love, and HIV," at the National Black Theatre in Harlem, NY. With over 200 people in attendance, the event featured a lively panel discussion about how HIV impacts love, relationships and dating in communities of color.
