New BWA Campaign Aims to Keep Foster Kids from Homelessness and Jail Time
This week, BWA and Voices for Illinois children launched the newest phase of the Foster Kids Are Our Kids campaign “Where’s the Love?” with events at Loyola University School of Law in Chicago on Tuesday, the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon on Thursday and the Children’s Home Association’s Academy in Peoria on Friday.
Foster Kids Are Our Kids is a statewide public awareness campaign that originally launched in 2006 and is designed to improve the perceptions about children in foster care and foster parents in Illinois. “Where’s the Love” is a hard hitting look at how bad things happen to kids that are not given enough love and support. The message highlights the importance of nurturing foster kids now to prevent school dropout, homelessness and incarceration later. The campaign includes a statewide television spot, outdoor and transit advertising and outreach collateral such as grocery tote bags, stickers, tattoos, USB drives, lenticular postcards and posters.
