Two BWA Campaigns Win 2014 Davey Awards

The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts honored Better World Advertising with two 2014 Silver Davey Awards for our work on the Will S/he Grow Out of It? and HIV Stops With Me: Undetectable campaigns. With nearly 4,000 entries from across the United States and around the world, the Davey Awards honor the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies and companies worldwide.

Will S/he Grow Out of It? was honored by the Daveys in the Websites – Family/Parenting category. This English and Spanish language campaign was created by BWA in partnership with First 5 Alameda County to encourage parents to seek help for children who may have developmental delays. The campaign features an English and Spanish website, ads in transit shelters, BART station ads, outreach posters, ads on check cashing center envelopes, convenience store posters, laundromat ads and bus queens.

HIV Stops With Me: Undetectable received a Davey award for the Public Service – Newspaper category. Now in its 14th year, this multifaceted, national social-marketing campaign aims to prevent the spread of HIV while also reducing the stigma associated with the disease. The campaign focuses on the personal strengths of people living with HIV and affirms their ability to display these qualities in their everyday life. The Undetectable phase of the campaign focuses on the means and importance of obtaining an undetectable viral load and how one maintains this status. Since its inception in 2000, HIV Stops With Me has been nominated for Best Advertising Campaign by GLAAD and has received an American Graphic Design Award, a Telly Award, two Webby Awards and a W3 award. HIV Stops With Me was last honored with a Davey Award in 2005.

The Davey Awards exclusively honor the “Davids” of creativity, the finest small firms, agencies and companies in the world. The Davey Awards are sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms.
