Four BWA Campaigns Win Davey Awards

The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts honored Better World Advertising with four 2016 Silver Davey Awards for our work on the I Have Syphilis, Our Sexual Revolution, Swallow This, and Trust But Verify-Stop Elder Financial Abuse campaigns. With nearly 4,000 entries from across the United States and around the world, the Davey Awards honor the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies, and companies worldwide.

I Have Syphilis received the award for Websites – Health category.  This site was created by BWA in partnership with the New York State Department of health to increase awareness and testing for syphilis amongst men who have sex with men in the state. The campaign was featured in online and mobile ads, LGBT publications as well as targeted medical offices and clinics throughout New York State.

Swallow This received the award for Design/Print in outdoor – Billboard/Poster category. The campaign was created by BWA in partnership with Harlem United to increase awareness of PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and establish PrEP as a viable, trusted HIV prevention method for Black and Latino men who have sex with men in Upper Manhattan. Ads were placed in convenience stores, street kiosks, on digital platforms as well as print promotional materials distributed during Pride events and to local community partners.

Our Sexual Revolution received the award for Design/Print in outdoor – Transit category. This campaign was created in partnership with the San Francisco Department of Health to increase awareness of PrEP for Black and Latino men who have sex with men and trans women in San Francisco. The campaign was featured on subway platforms, buses, bus shelters, and a full train wrap.

Trust But Verify- Stop Elder Financial Abuse received the award for Commerical – Public Service category. This campaign was created in partnership with the Alameda County Social Services Agency to increase awareness of elder financial abuse and motivate the community to report all suspected instances. The commercial aired on Cable channels throughout Alameda county as well as through video ads placed on Facebook.
